Founded in 1886, the Calicut Bar Association stands as one of the oldest and most respected AFrom its humble beginnings as a law library under the leadership of District Judge Frank Wilkinson, the Association has grown into a strong fraternity of advocates dedicated to justice, integrity, and service. Over the decades, our members have not only excelled in the courtroom but also played pivotal roles in shaping society—many serving as judges, ministers, parliamentarians, governors, and reformers.legal institutions in Kerala. The Association has always stood fearless in times of trial, be it during the Freedom Struggle, the Quit India Movement, or the Emergency of 1977, championing civil liberties and human rights. We take pride in our inclusive journey, from the first woman lawyer of Calicut, Smt. V.M. Leelavathy, to today’s vibrant community of advocates who continue to add strength and diversity to our profession.
